World Premiere

'Lingua' relates how the evolution of verbal and nonverbal communication has affected how we perceive the world.

Calouche describes “Lingua” as “an experience that authentically engages the audience through discussions on verbal and nonverbal communications.  We will explore linguistic research and the effects language has had on cultures and society.  Our goal is for the audience to leave thinking more about how they communicate.”

Through dance, circus arts, theatre and music, the production examines how language can affect your perception of time and space, identity and the desire to be understood.  Additionally, showcasing an intimate on-stage seating arrangement will allow for interaction between audience and performers, blurring the lines between the two perspectives of performer and audience member.
